Via Hobart (through the busy city centre again) we took the road to the west into the wilderness. In the distance a forest fire is coloring the sky orange. Fortunately further north of this NP.
Today we did 2 totally different walks in the park. The first one was 3 waterfalls circuit (7.5 km) following the stream next to the camping. There are several hills and stair climbs and decents involved. It was beautiful. Many large to very large trees and ferns. We also past 3 waterfalls in different streams.
In the afternoon we drove some 10 km up to lake Dobson which lies at 1040 m at the tree line. Above it is a high barren plateau where you can ski in the winter. The 40 min walk around the lake is through a different forest/bush. We went through a grove of Pandani trees. They are like the large ferns except with thick leaves. Along the path we encountered our first Tiger snake. A black one which slides away but Jamaliah managed to take a photo.
