Back on the main road we stopped in Stanley for our long-desired Lobster lunch. It was delicious. We each had half a large lobster.
The campsite is between the beach and a golf course. Maybe we wil have a game of 9 holes tomorrow. The town is built up against a large basalt knoll. The remains of an old volcano core. The few streets with old characteristic houses wind around the rock. A chairlift can carry you to the top. We did some walks around town and had hot chocolate in the local hotel (it was windy) while waiting for sunset and then went to the viewing platform to see little Penguins coming onshore. This time we were lucky and saw them wobbling up through the rocks till they could hide under the bushes. Red lighting provided the opportunity to actually see them in the dark.
We have come full circle in Tasmania. We drove some 3200 km/28 days around this beautiful island. We rounded it off with a game of golf this morning. We fondly remember the many walks and drives through the extensive forests. We just love the large Eucalyptus and myrtle trees and the large tree ferns growing underneath them. Several camperers that we have met stay here for 2 or 3 months. I can now understand why. We mostly stayed 1 night at one spot but often it would be good to stay longer. There are always more walks to make. Tomorrow morning we take the ferry back to Geelong/Melbourne and start the second part of our East Australia adventure.
