We left early at 9:30 and drove on small farm roads to the mining town of Bendigo. There we stopped at the Deborah historic mine. Rudy went on the underground mine tour to the 61 m level and the tour took him through the tunnels where different mining techniques were demonstrated. (Foto’s on the blog in the future).  Jamaliah stayed above ground 😄. Later we explored the surface works. Around 1900s there were some 5000 mine shafts sunk to extract the reef gold from several reefs in the area. Only 1 mine is still in operation.
Outside town we visited a large Tibetian Buddhistic Stupa of Universal Compassion. It has the largest Jade Buddha made from jade coming from a site in Canada which we had previously visited.
We drove back to town to hop on the talking electrical tram which shows you the town. It was the last tram of the day so not much hop on and off.
It gets dark earlier now, around 18:00 so we did not reached Echuca on the Murray river but instead found a great spot on a smaller river few kilometers after Elmore (Aysons Reserve by Campaspe River).
