After lunch in the camper, we continue our drive of the Causeway Coast Road. The road goes over the green plateau and sometimes dived down into river valleys cut down to sea level. It is a beautiful winding hilly road and when it runs along the seashore a wall separates you from the water. You have to keep your eyes on the road though. The road is not so wide. Of the many stop opportunities along the way, we stopped at the large castle in Carrickfergus. This castle has an 800-year history of attacks by Scots, Irish, English and French. In 1690 William III of Orange landed here with his troops and continued south to defeat his father-in-law James II at the battle of the Boyne and secured his position in Ireland.
We drove a bit further along the coast towards Belfast and found a camping spot on a coastal park near the city.
