The next day we drove out of the mountains and around to the official border crossing into the Russian Altai. The border crossing was no problem (1.5 hrs) and the road conditions improved dramatically. Since the time shifted (again) 1 hr ahead we decided not to drive too far and found a nice lake in Savvushka to camp on. It was a Russian camp site. Good to see other campers on the slopes towards the warm lake water. The facilities are minimal (some rental huts, picnic tables, toilet huts, no electric and water). The swim was great.
