After shopping in Sorell we had lunch in Richmond where they have yet another old stone bridge (1823) and a convict goal. From here the traffic got busier on our way to the campground at Glenorchy in the outskirts of Hobart.
The warm shower last night felt good. The night rest was disturbed by all the city noise we are not use to anymore. It is now cold and windy. The gas tank is empty. We will replace it tomorrow as it is dark now. Maybe time for another hot shower before we leave tomorrow.
Today we took the bus into town. We didn’t have to pay both going to and back to the campground. Courtesy from the bus driver. The sun shined off and on. We wandered a bit through the city center which starts at the harbor with its renovated wharf and several older sandstone government buildings. Just outside the center the city sprawl up the various hill sides. Our campsite is up one of them. Our tour ended with a visit to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. An interesting hotchpod of aboriginal history, Antartica exploration, portraits and landscapes as well as local fauna. Interesting are the videos of the Tasmanian tiger taken of the last few living animals before they become extinct in 1935. They looked like a large dog with a large strongly built head and stripes over most of its back. It also had a pouch in which the pups develop. Pity that they were hunted to extinction for the good of the farming economy. After a rainy windy night, the sun came out this morning. Still strong wind. We packed up, emptied the toilet and filled up water. Next to the campsite is a shop (Bunnings) which sold gas bottles so that was also done.
