From the West coast we drove inland again to Cradle Mountain NP. It lies at 900m and is one of the prime tourist attractions. Especially over Easter. In the morning we were able to reserve an expensive spot on the park campsite for 1 night. It was cold last night at the Cradle Mountain campsite. We both had our hot shower in the evening and then stayed in the heated common room/kitchen with other caperers. In the morning there was frozen water drops on the car bonnet. Inside the camper it was damp with condense so, since it was sunny, we opened the roof for ventilation during our tour of the park.
From the car park, we boarded a bus to Dove lake (end of bus stop) which is just below the rock formation of Cradle Mountain. From there we walked 8 km with some detours (a strenuous uphill walk to wombat pool), down to a bus pickup point. On the wide field of button grass we saw several wombats grazing.
