First I wanted to convert a VW bus into a camper. After several designs and visits to camper converters I bumped into one of my neighbors who had a VW California Exclusive. I went inside and was immediately convinced that this is the camper for the trip. I could not build a better camper myself. I searched on the web for an affordable version with low millage. I found one in Germany which was just over 10 years old (2001) and only 78.000 km on the clock. After handing over a bag of cash I drove back to Assen without problems. The import and registration went without a hitch. That was in October 2011. Since then I have been upgrading the camper.
The additions are:
– Bear lock
– 240/12 V converter (600 watt) + extra sockets
– Solar pannel (60Wp)
– Mosquito netting for windows and door
– LPG tank (25 L) for camping gas
– SOG toilet air distractor
– Fiamma Ultra-box on a dedicated brackets on the back
– Seikel lift kit
– 5 x Goodridge all terrain tires 215/75 R15

In the mean time the camper has also a name: PASSEPARTOUT
