Again, we had to drive over yesterday’s switchback road. There is no through road from this park. I have to admire Rudy driving. He is an excellent driver.
This agricultural town (Warwick) lies on route 15 “Australia’s Country Way”. It follows the Great Divide mountain range on the west side. Initially it was dryer but the rain catched up with us here on the campsite. This campsite is 1090 m high up in the mountains. It is known for the large granite boulders. Tomorrow we will again try our morning walk and climb the largest one which they call “mini-Uluru”. It is good to know local travelers who can advise you where to go. We would not have camped at Bald rocks and Apsley Gorge/Waterfall.
We are glad we made the walk to the top of the second largest granite boulder in Australia despite the rain this morning. We took the long route and not the steep direct route over the boulder. The wind and rain did not really make the rock slippery but we did not trust it especially when going down. I am proud that Jamaliah made it all the way up knowing that there was no view (Drizzle and fog in the cloud) and a steep decent over the granite boulder at the top. We saw many eucalyptus trees with a black bark. It was not caused by fire. Must be a different type. There were several kangaroo’s grazing on the side of the path. One did not want to go away and made noise when I came close. Eventually he hopped away from the path.
